Finally We're Heading Outside!

Stingers Soccer Club 2006 Spring Memories DVD

A video scrapbook looking back at the Spring '06 Season with teammates, coaches, families, and most of all, friends.

We have established a contact with Memories Inc., a video editing and Production Company out of Glennville WV that is interested in documenting our spring season and producing a video in DVD format for all club members and their families. The great thing about this idea is that since they have a personal tie to the club

they are willing to produce the videos at almost no profit to themselves except covering hardware cost and they will donate back to the club 50% of the sale of each DVD package.  The total cost for the DVD, personalized case and a CDR copy will be $20.00 with $10.00 of each sale going directly back to the club. We can tell you from seeing examples ourselves that it’s a great quality DVD with very personal touches that you will want to watch over and over with your family and keep to cherish those memories of the kids growing up.

The DVD will be formatted with a menu that follows certain themes that we can set up such as games, practice, tournaments, friends hanging out, team parties, etc. and will blend both video footage and still shots taken over the course of the spring season.  Each DVD will have anywhere from 10 to 15 popular songs set as the background and the scrapbook is set up to the music.

These videos are awesome and once the kids see the first one at the end of this season they will want a new one produced each and every season.

Just like school yearbooks we will be taking pre orders for the video scrapbooks and at the end of the season once the final team parties are finished up you will receive your DVD collection of the spring season.

Extra Note:  In order to make this successful we need everyone’s help in collecting video and still images of your child’s team.  If you have a good eye go ahead and shoot those pictures and videos of the kids in action.  Memories Inc. asks that the shots be of natural happenings with the kids and their friends or of action shots during a game. Of course posing for the camera with friends is great also.  As you get pictures during the season just email a copy of them to Nathan Thomas at nate4kwv@aol.com and he will get them to Memories Inc.  Remember to include who, what and where.

Thanks for your support, The S.S.C. Fundraising Committee

CHEER ON THE CREW IN THEIR 2006 HOME OPENER!

WE HAVE A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO GO EXPERIENCE WORLD CLASS SOCCER AT A GREAT PRICE!!!

The Columbus Crew has invited us to enjoy their home opener so we wanted to make sure the word went out as early as possible to anyone interested.

If you have never experienced a professional soccer game live, then you don’t know what you’re missing.  The Crews stadium in Columbus is a great place to go as a team or family because it is so kid and family friendly.  It’s not too big but definitely delivers on the excitement!  It is a quick and easy 3 hour drive from Clarksburg, not bad.

On April 15th the Crew will be playing the Chicago Fire at the Crew Stadium in Columbus Ohio and we thought it would be fun for teams to have the opportunity to go together.  If you are interested please contact your coach or team manager as soon as possible.  The sooner we get the final number in to them the better are chances of getting great seats.

We will purchase the tickets all at one time so you need to get your money into your team manager.

Deadline to order tickets: Saturday, April 1 at 5pm

Upcoming Events

As we get closer to the spring season team managers are finalizing their schedules and coaches are getting the kids ready for a successful and fun season.

There are a couple of changes on the events we will be attending as a club.  On April the 22 and 23 and May 6 and 7 we will be entering the Huntington Friendly’s which will be a great opportunity for teams to see exactly where they are techniquely and where they need to be as the season progresses.  Each team should get at least 4 games this weekend which is better than some tournaments.  We will also be attending the Colonial Cup in Richmond VA as a club on May 27 and 28.

On April 15 we have an opportunity to go watch an MLS soccer game in Columbus OH. (See above page)  If you think you would like to go please get your money and info into your team manager by April 1.

Some teams will be entering the Fairmont 7v7 tournament on March 25 at the East West Stadium.  This event is to help fund the Fairmont High School soccer program which is always a good cause especially since our high school soccer doesn’t get much support from anywhere else.

Reminders To Players

·       Bring plenty of H2O

·       Don’t forget your gear. (ball, shingaurds, shoes, jersey)  It’s your responsibility not mom and dads.

·       Make sure you always have your alternate jersey in your soccer bag.  You never know when you will need to change at the last minute and moments before a game is to start isn’t the time to run across the field looking for your shirt.

The Latest "STING"

Since we are still gearing up for the spring season and no matches have been played we decided to leave the indoor tournament results.  Look for future updates as the season progresses.

The U-10 boys took second place while the U-10 girls never quit fighting and came in fourth.  The U-12 girls came in second and third in their bracket and the U-14 girls also took second and third.  The High School girls  had the biggest hill to climb with over 15 teams in the bracket and had a great showing coming back from a couple loses to finally win big taking the championship while the other High School team made it all the way to the quarterfinals.

Stingers Fundraisers

The Stingers Soccer Club is planning some fun and exciting fundraisers for the spring and upcoming fall seasons and we need everyone’s help to make them successful.  Some of the reasons for having these fundraisers are to purchase new uniforms, travel bags and warm-ups, to provide needed scholarships, and to try and lower the cost for players.

We currently have two fundraisers going now, double scented candles and magazine subscriptions, and we will be looking at others as the season progresses.  Some of the other ideas discussed at the last fundraising meeting were, discount cards, calendar cash tickets, Applebees pancake breakfast, a car wash, an elimination dinner, and a dance.

The next fundraising meeting is set for March 28.  The location and time will be sent out to everyone as we get closer.  If you have any ideas or questions for the fundraising committee contact Kathy Beevers at katabeevers@wmconnect.com or Craig Wilson at kcwilson@ma.rr.com .
